STA Aussie Air Pass

Friday January 6, 2006
STA Travel, a global student travel agency, has rolled out a new Australia student airfare discount, the Aussie Student Airpass, which wings you down under and provides at least three in-country flights on the cheap -- starts at $999, plus fees and an ISIC card, for the whole kit. Buy the pass through June 30, 2006, and travel for up to one year.

Not a bad deal -- a student airfare check, using Student Universe to fly LA-Sydney and Qantas to fly from Melbourne to Brisbane, Tasmania and Sydney and back to the US, came in at $1366 with fees ($958 LA-Sydney roundtrip) for an April trip; the Student Scene Aussie Pass is $999 plus fees, which are probably around $200. Aussie Pass options available:

  • Student Scene - $999 plus fees

    • Los Angeles
    • Brisbane
    • Melbourne
    • Hobart (Tasmania)
    • Sydney
    • Los Angeles

  • Sun, Surf & Sand - $1199 plus fees

    • Los Angeles
    • Sydney
    • Cairns
    • Hamilton Island
    • Brisbane
    • Los Angeles

  • Outback Experience - $1199 plus fees

    • Los Angeles
    • Melbourne
    • Ayers Rock
    • Alice Springs
    • Sydney
    • Los Angeles

  • Year Long Tour - $1999 plus fees

    • Los Angeles
    • Sydney
    • Hobart
    • Melbourne
    • Adelaide
    • Perth
    • Darwin
    • Cairns
    • Townsville
    • Brisbane
    • Los Angeles

STA Travel reps say the special will probably last for at least a few weeks, if not through early spring; airfares can be used for up to one year from date of purchase. Flights must be taken in the off season, and you'll need an ISIC card to get the deal. Good on ya!
