Check Airfares Before Doing Deals

Friday January 13, 2006
A British airline sale reminded me this morning that you should always take a quick look around before buying an airfare. British airline BMI is offering excellent deals on London-Europe flights right now -- a random check made this a.m. and using February 2 for a one-way departure popped up a London-Paris BMI fare of 29 GBP (Great Britain Pounds), or $51 USD. A check of popular student airfare finder, Student Universe, produced a student discount fare of $143 USD for February 2.

Definitely a very good deal from BMI, but a check on Euro discount airline easyJet turned up a $40.82 regularLondon-Paris airfare for February 2.

Granted, discount European carriers like easyJet can be late and land at distant airports... take a bus to avoid having your six pound savings eaten up by a cab.
