Think about freezing in outdoor club lines (most covers are included in the fee, incidentally), and getting in quick on a VIP pass seems like a warm and fuzzy deal. Think, also, about how much dough you've wasted in the wrong nightspot; that won't happen with an experienced clubhopper along.
