On the Way to Turin

Sunday February 5, 2006
Part-time Italy resident and travel writer James Martin writes today that he is off to Torino (yeah, Turin) any minute -- he's keeping a terrific Winter Olympics blog which he'll be updating from his Italian heart-of-the-action headquarters. His post today led me to his amusing and informative review of No Jet Lag -- cool homeopathic stuff that really does stave off the swollen feet on airplanes thing.

I've never had jet lag yet, though that may be thanks to the miracle No Jet-Lag pills -- like James, I don't follow the no jet lag rules very well.

Traveler Larry West posted about keeping jet lag grounded some time ago -- by following a few tips, you can probably escape jet lag.

Avoiding jet lag according to Larry:
    1. Adjust your bedtime by one hour a day.
    2. Reset your watch at the beginning of your flight.
    3. Drink plenty of water.
    4. Avoid drinking alcohol or anything with caffeine during your flight.
    5. Sleep on the plane if it is nighttime at your destination.
    6. Stay awake during your flight if it is daytime at your destination.
    7. Exercise as much as you can on the flight while you’re awake.
    8. Eat lightly but strategically.
    9. Consider taking melatonin or "No Jet Lag."
    10. Relax when you reach your destination.
