How to Take the Bus in Mexico

Sunday February 12, 2006
Mexico has excellent in-country buses, as well as a plethora of local buses ranging from not-so-converted school buses to beauty min-vans. And VW vans, of course, which are also called combis or collectivos. I call 'em VW vans, myself. I love VW vans -- I've had three; there's a '78 in my driveway now. '70's era VW microbuses are kinda spendy here, but they're a cheap cheap cheap form of transportation in Mexico.

If you're going to Mexico, you may want to know about buses and cabs -- learn how to catch a bus in Mexico (stand by the side of the road) and get schedules for the ultra comfortable long haul Mexico buses... did you know you can grab a Greyhound from the US to Mexico? I've put together the info as part of Student Travel's current series on student travel in Mexico (see "Destination Now: Mexico" to the left). '
