Would You Travel for Love?

Monday February 13, 2006
Travel friend-finder FriendsOnArrival.com recently released the results of a member survey showing that 60% consider partner-finding potential when selecting a destination; Paris, Rome and Venice were the top three romantic cities. 70% of those were women; when asked, “Where would you travel to in the hope of finding love?”, 20% of men said, "Anywhere."

I suppose "anywhere" can conceivably include Helena, Montana, where I once hitchiked with a bottle of champagne stuffed in my backpack. It's really, really cold on the side of the Montana road in January, especially when your jeans have a rip in the seat. And the guy had a date when I got there. It was a beautiful trip, though -- Montana's gorgeous in any season and I found an awesome coffee shop, Northern Light, in Helena. The travel was worth it -- and sometimes the travel is the point.

Want to do some friend-finding on your travels? Try hostels, a great way to meet folks in those top romantic cities, or check out FriendsOnArrival.com. It's got sections devoted to finding folks by interest, including students and backpackers.
