New Student Airfares: "Generation Fly"

German air giant Lufthansa has something new in the neighborhood for student travelers: a program called Generation Fly offering student airfares to Europe. I posted about it here on Wednesday, but I must stand corrected on one, pretty major, point: Student Universe's advertised student airfares are roundtrip, which would make them less than the one-way fares I see on Generation Fly's website before the plus plus. The program does offer some perks, prizes and bonuses; Lufthansa is sending out a press release Monday -- updates then.

A New York-London student airfare for $227+ one way still doesn’t sound that good, does it?
Once you put in a RT flight and the system adds up all the taxes (mind you, LH’s taxes are usually way higher than those of American carriers’ taxes), the fare comes to more than $500, which is more than the lowest published fares on sites like travelocity, expedia, or cheaptickets.
I flew to London from WAS for $425 all taxes included a couple of weeks ago and it was a regular, published fare on travelocity.
So much for cheap student tickets at LH!
