Bahamas Spring Break Safety Program "a Success"

Thursday April 20, 2006
Bahamian officials are calling a "Spring Break programme" police initiative started in Nassau Februay 24 and aimed at protecting visiting college students "a success"; Assistant Superintendent of Police Christopher Rahming told the Bahama Journal on Wednesday, "So far because of our increased presence we have not had any great problems with Bahamians or residents molesting tourists." Nassau is one of About Student Travel's Top Ten 2006 Spring Break Spots, with a caveat about less-than-friendly islanders.

Miles of white sand beach and clear blue snorkel-perfect water, not to mention coconut drinks and fresh fish on the tables, make the Bahamas a sweet spring break spot, and the island nation's "Family Islands," lightly populated outlying cays where the living is easy though prices are high, are worth a look if parents are footing the spring break bill and friendlier local interaction than big city Nassau offers is paramount to your trip's success.
