I may live a sheltered shopping life -- I just learned last year that I know people who arise in the black of night to shop at 5:00 a.m. on Black Friday. When I figured it out, I could see doing it -- except it takes 2.75 hours to reach a real mall from my tiny Colorado town. That would mean leaving home in the frosty dark at - umm - 2:15 a.m. to hit the truly superlative sales. Yeah, maybe no on that one.
Fortunately, those smarties at student travel agency STA are having an online sale catering to those of us who won't be beating down department store doors at dawn to get the deals -- a
Black Friday Blue Ticket airfare sale. "Black Friday" means a one-day sale the day after Thanksgiving only, and "Blue Tickets" are fairly flexible tix that go out to full-time students over 12 holding
ISIC cards or youth travelers under 26. Other Blue Ticket sales on domestic and international airfares have been scorchers, so it's likely you can be among those scoring deals today even if you're among those who won't be braving the mall madness.
With a Blue Ticket™, you can change your travel dates after you buy for a few bucks (ask before you buy), stay for up to one year, and get a refund (again, ask what that will be before you buy).
Remember to check taxes and fees (the **). The Black Friday Blue Ticket student airfare sale rules:
- Fares available to travelers 12-26 years old or to valid ISIC cardholders (full-time students over 12 seeking a degree at an accredited university).
- Tickets must be purchased and ticketed November 24, 2006.
- Departures must take place by March 31, 2007.
- Holiday blackouts will apply (generally December 15-January 1).
