Guadalajara's Best Hostel

Monday January 29, 2007
Each year, we choose among hostel accommodations worldwide able to claim a clean, reasonable and friendly scene and pick one that we liked checking out and into the most (in 2005, it was Acapulco's Kingdom Hostel). Before we bestow the 2006 Best Hostel title, let's look at the runners up over the next few weeks, starting with Guadalajara's Hostal de Maria. We were there in August and September, 2006 for four days, and remember it fondly. Here's what we said about it:
Guadalajara's Hostel de Maria is a sweet spot worth a lengthy stay. The friendly, secure Mexico hostel has two cute private rooms with baths and six sunny dorms, a clean community kitchen, and satellite TV; centrally located near the old city centro's sights, it's a short walk to everything, including easy Guadalajara public transportation. Quiet nights in comfortable digs -- if the free wifi reached the private rooms, this hostel would be a flashpacker's dream.
Yeah -- still sounds good and, according to travelers, still is good. Check out the Hostel de Maria if Guadalajara's on your agenda.
