If you're planning to travel abroad when school lets out, you should have a new passport in the works now. If not, apply today -- passport application processing delays mean it can take well over the normal six-eight weeks to get a passport through a regular application process, and up to four weeks for an expedited passport right now. The "normal" passport application window's all but closed for early summer travel unless you apply for an expedited passport
because you're leaving the country within two weeks: costs some bucks, but you'll probably have it before you go (according to a phone interview with a Department of State spokesperson). Don't bother with passport application expediting services -- you can expedite a passport application yourself.
