African Scare... errr, Airlines

Africa's on our list of places to explore this decade, and one of our kajillion questions is about those inter-country flights -- the reason we think we're frequently hearing about deadly air crashes in Africa is because, well, we are: a recent BBC story reports that although African flights represent only 3% of global air traffic, 17% of the planet's fatal air crashes result. With perfect timing, the Africa Civil Aviation Agency (ACAA), was just established to coordinate continent-wide aviation policy, train pilots and "...bring Africa's safety standards into line with those in Europe and the US."* Anouk Zjilma has the scoop:
