Travel Tip of the Week
Everyone knows not to drink the water in some countries, but many of us forget to use purified water when brushing our teeth - it's just ingrained in us to turn on the tap while brushing! Our son accidentally brushed his teeth with tap water in Mexico and was down (or should I say up and down) for a good bit of his vacation. And remember to keep your mouth closed in the shower. One mouthful and you could be up and down, too! (Addition: alert reader Nina reminds us to be careful with ice cubes, too, as well as making sure the water bottles you purchase anywhere at your destination are securely sealed - i.e. not filled from the restaurant's or store's tap or hose! Thanks, Nina!)

I always carry a bottle of water with me while traveling which I try not to touch until I've reached my destination and found a source for good water; planes serve bottled water, for instance - my bottle is for emergency use once I've arrived.
