Absolutely fabulous photos, too. And we love it that he's hauling a Macbook Pro: a flashpacker after our own hearts.

Malena, a 26-year-old engineer from Boston who says, "Candy can provide a lens through which to see our modern world," won a round-the-world ticket from Hosteling International and she's using her travel time to, among other adventures, seek sweets worldwide. Her sugar-on-a-shoestring adventures started in March, 2008 and should provide sweet reading through an 18-month backpacker sojourn.

Fascinating reading.
