San Francisco has a passel of hostels, and my favorite in this backpacker-friendly California town is the Adelaide Hostel very near San Francisco's Union Square. Close to the action, inexpensive, excellent free wifi, and a fantastically friendly staff make this San Francisco hostel a winner. Like coming home, albeit to an old house with dilapidated corners -- hey, kinda like home. If you go:
