Available High School Study Abroad Programs

Choose a High School Study Abroad Option

Many study abroad programs for high school students exist; your guidance counselor may have some favorites, and you can read up on some options here.

  • American Council for International Exchange (ACIS)

    High school students earn college credits by studying abroad, including Canada, with ACIS.

    • Four week summer programs are held on university campuses in London, Paris, Rome, Salamanca and St. Petersburg
    • Academic courses are supplemented by short travel expeditions and cultural and sports events
    • Air transportation and housing are included in tuition, and scholarships are available
    • Forty years experience

  • AYUSA

    AYUSA has study programs in ten countries and accommodates 15-18 year olds with at least a 2.75 GPA.

    • Students live with a volunteer host family and study at a local high school
    • Summer, semester or academic year programs
    • Scholastic progress is monitored by AYUSA staff
    • Scholarships available

  • Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)

    CIEE offers academic year or semester high school study abroad programs.

    • Study in Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Japan and Spain
    • Students live with a host family and attend the local high school (private school may be an option)
    • Semesters run about $6000, academic years from $6-8000; partial scholarships are available - award is based on merit

  • Rotary Youth Exchange

    The Rotary Club International has been engaging students in study abroad since 1927. Rotary's website describes the club as "...a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world." Rotarians sent over 8000 students to international communties last year.
