Piccadilly Backpacker's Hostel Interior

c Kathleen Crislip
I checked into the Piccadilly Backpacker's Hostel mid-morning and, granted, rooms weren't made up yet, but I left after one look and too many encounters with aggressively rude employees. I've stayed in some sketchy hostels, and I wouldn't stay here, though it seems safe enough.

Instead, I crossed the street and scored a great hotel room at the Regent Palace Hotel, with full service, for a few pounds more.

Though I was a walk-in without reservation for that day, the hostile hostel would not refund my money when I checked out within an hour. I seldom tell hostel management I'm there to review the joint... interestingly, I had done so. Perhaps you'll have a better experience, but I wouldn't send a friend to this hostel. And I sure wouldn't pay $61 for a room here. Oh, wait... I did.

Room rates per person

  • 4 bed dorm - $28.50
  • 6 bed dorm - $26.75 ($32 for "pods")
  • 8-10 bed dorm - $21.40
  • Double / twin room - $46.35
  • Single room - $64
    Add $5+ on weekend nights.
