Guadalajara's Hostel de Maria is in a nice little neighborhood called Nueve Esquinas, or Nine Corners, a few blocks from the colonial city's wonderful centro (center). The hostel is about a $7-9 cab ride from Guadalajara's nuevo (new) bus station(where you can catch a bus to the coast and pretty Puerto Vallarta) or $15 to the airport. Walk to the mercado (market) or colonial cathedral in Guadalajara's centro, or head out from the hostel one block to some taquerias, one pretty great restauarant, and a few lively cantinas.
