The Day of the Dead, a major Mexico event just after Halloween, is a great time to visit Mexico. The Day of the Dead is a celebration and remembrance of and communion with souls who've moved on. The US's Halloween decorations have drifted south and have begin showing up in Mexico Day of the Dead celebrations; for the most part, though, traditional Day of the Dead symbols, like skeletons, dance across Mexico amid brilliant color on the Day of the Dead.

A knot of laughing admirers drew me to this little chico scaling a light pole in a Mexico City zocalo as evening festivities from a long Day of the Dead wound down.
