Zihuatanejo native Noyo Verboonen escorted me to this market a short walk from the town's main hsutle and bustle mercado, where I got to sample a fresh tamale and soak up the color of a spring Mexico morning. Remember to get off the beaten path wherever you travel; sometimes the adventure is just a block away.

Zihuatanejo is a terrific town minutes down the Pacific coast from touristy Ixtapa. Go for the sunny beach and stay for the people. Check out a photo from Zihuatanejo's main outdoor market, too.
