The Bottom Line
The Shake Awake vibrating travel alarm clock is perfect for any situation where you're sleeping in close proximity to others and don't want an audible alarm to disturb others: sleeping in hostels, dorms or with a bedmate, for instance - no shrieking alarm (although that is an option). It's also a great every day alarm clock for the hearing impaired. And worn under your shirt, the vibration against your chest wakes you from naps on planes, buses and trains. Nice private, quiet wakeup call.

Guide Review - Shake Awake Travel Alarm Clock
What a great gadget! The Shake Awake travel alarm clock wakes you with a subtle but powerful vibration. Who needs it? Seniors, the hearing impaired, student travelers, college students, couples with different schedules and those who don't wish to be rudely beeped awake.
If you're a heavy sleeper, I recommend setting the vibrating alarm clock a little early and using the snooze function because of the alarm's short duration. When it goes off again eight minutes later, you might be ready to get up.
If you have a bedmate, share the clock by using the snooze function; after you wake, slide it into his/her pillow and you'll have eight minutes to stretch and snag the bathroom first.
If you find the clock sliding out from under your pillow during the night, loop a longer piece of nylon to the existing lanyard; it's hooked to the clip with a ring like a key ring - slide the ring off and knot your string through the lanyard's loop and the ring.
Familiarize yourself with the snooze and light buttons before you fumble with the clock on the first dark morning you use it.
How it Works
The vibrating alarm clock comes with a lanyard (the string on the left side of the clock in the photo) hooked to the clock at one end and to a metal alligator clip at the other. Clamp the clip to the edge of your pillowcase and slide the clock inside, under your pillow. When the alarm goes off, you'll feel the insistent vibration and hear the slight buzzing of the motor.
