Current European Rail Specials

  • Free Credit from Eurail

Love this Eurail sale on now: buy a qualifying Eurail pass by June 30, 2009 and Rail Europe will give you a credit voucher good for 25 percent of the value of that pass, which can be used toward up to 75 percent of any rail travel purchase made by December 20, 2009, provided your second purchase is at least 1.34 times the value of credit. Okay, this is how it works:

For example, buy a $586 Eurail Youth Global pass (that's the already discounted student price) and get a voucher for $146.50 (25 percent). Subsequently save $146.50 when you buy any Rail Europe passes or tickets worth at least $196.31 (1.34 times the dollar value of your credit ) next fall. That could be up to 75% off a different pass or a point-to-point ticket which you discover you need to buy on top of your pass.

    • Apply for the credit (save your used original pass!) by printing the credit document and completing it. Mail the application along with your original used rail pass to the Rail Europe Redemption Center.
Rail Europe, Attn: Redemption Center, Columbia Centre II, 9450 W. Bryn Mawr, 4th Floor, Rosemont, IL 60018

    • Use the credit on your next purchase by buying another Eurail pass from Rail Europe, and type in the personalized promotion code you’ll receive after you apply for the credit.

Yep, that’s it! Do remember that your future purchase must be at least 1.34 times the dollar value of your credit.

  • Two Free Days on Any Eurail Pass

Got a valid ISIC card (International Student Identity Card)? Get a deal when you book a Eurail 8-day Select Pass from June 1 to July 31, 2009 -- you’ll get two additional days free. Yep, your 8-day pass becomes a 10-day pass, regardless of whether you choose from the three, four, or five country options. Eurail (and what is Eurail, anyway?) has teamed up with ISIC to offer this special, with more to come, and in honor of Eurail's 50th anniversary.

Don't have an ISIC card? They're a snap to get:

Please go to page one for Eurail mulit-country passes and go to page two for single country Eurail passes, or go to an onformation hub on how to use Eurail passes.

You can also go straight to Rail Europe to see a train pass chart with which you can compare train passes and decide which Eurail pass you need -- if the pass you want is on sale, you'll find out.

Rail Trip Tip

If you want to sleep without fear of losing of your backpack on a train, invest in carabiners (secure locking devices) - find a good one here - and use it to hook your pack to an overhead rack.
