Those amplified voices you hear saying, "Mind the gap" when you're on the London tube? "The gap" is the space between the train and the tube platform, created after the train stops. Nobody wants you to fall in the gap. That's why tube announcements repeat, "Mind the gap," and "Mind the gap" is stenciled on the floor just next to the... gap. "Mind" means watch or be careful of, or check out, or look at or for... you get the picture.

So, mind the gap.
