You'll find four publishers of phrase books here, including the two I most recommend for student travelers - Lonely Planet and Rough Guides. A nice feature is being able to see all titles in one place.
Monty Python's Michael Paln's entertaining travel narratives are online - "Around the World in 80 Days," "Pole to Pole," "Full Circle," "Hemingway Adventure," "Sahara," and "Himalaya." Where else will you learn that Hemingway hired an old islander to stand at the gates of the author's home and tell visitors, "I'se Mr. Hemingway and I'se crazy about you."?
These guides don't really offer practical information (for example, knowing the Spanish words for, "Thank you for canceling the duel at dawn" after irritating a Mexican politico is hopefully not something you need), but they're great for a laugh break from serious travel guide study. Just read at the library for fun.
