Guide Review - Travel Guidebook World Stompers, a Global Travel Manifesto
"World Stompers" makes clear that the world is waiting for you and and shows you how to get there. Meant for young people, the book encourages taking responsibility for one's self and learning to interact with people in other cultures in a non "ugly American" way. The book also provides practical advice on matters like handling money, health and safety tips, current crucial addresses and phone numbers and much more. This guide is very much about budget travel; the message is that lack of lira shouldn't stop young people from exploring their world and learning how they can make a positive personal impact on the lives of others they meet along the way.
A word of caution: this book is often called "subversive" partly because Olsen believes young travelers should involve themselves in the local wildlife - and I'm not referring to flora and fauna. Many student travelers do party and he makes no bones about it.
If you're looking for provocative but practical travel reading, this is it.
