eTravelDiary Online Travel Journal

About.com Rating 4.5

By , About.com Guide

The Bottom Line

Basically, your own web site with options. Very neat way to stay in touch with family and friends and keep them updated on your journey. My only concern is that you might rely on this online journal's message boards to receive important messages and if you're in the wilds with no access to a computer and are relying on this diary's message boards to hear from your loved ones, you might miss an emergency message from home. Solve that with some other communication options.
Pros
  • Free account option
  • Log in worldwide
  • Easy sign up and login
  • Public and private message boards
  • Upload photos
Cons
  • You must have a laptop or find an internet cafe to use this diary

Description

  • Customizable five page travel diary website
  • Updatable welcome page
  • Itinerary page - crucial to your trip unless you're a completely free spirit
  • Public message board - get messages from anyone, anywhere
  • Private message board - get and send messages from a specific person
  • Optional guest account allowing public access to your travel diary
  • Full website statistics - see who's accessing your diary, among other stats
  • Program resizes photos automatically to fit your site (nice)
  • Daily diary website backup - you don't have to do it
  • Don't want a viewer? Ability to ban he/she - be gone!

Guide Review - eTravelDiary Online Travel Journal

Four website diary package options exist:

  • You're allowed five viewers.
  • Enough space to upload approximately 25 (40 kilobyte) pictures.
  • You must log on at least once every 30 days or you'll lose the website.

    Silver ($2.95 per month):

  • You're allowed 15 viewers.
  • Enough space to upload approximately 125 (40 kilobyte) pictures.
  • Your viewers receive email notification when you make new entries.

    Gold ($5.95 per month):

  • You're allowed 30 viewers.
  • Enough space to upload approximately 250 (40 kilobyte) pictures.
  • Viewers receive email notification on new diary entries.
  • Web address - www.YourTravellerName.eTravelDiary.com

    Platinum ($8.95 per month):

  • You're allowed 100 viewers
  • Enough space to upload approximately 750 (40 Kilobyte) pictures.
  • Viewers receive email notification on new diary entries.
  • Web address - www.YourTravellerName.eTravelDiary.com

BTW, make sure the computer you're using has cookies enabled! Read the FAQ to learn about how to use this service.

Pretty cool. Pretty simple. Give it a trial run, but it's my opinion that this is the best way to keep an online travel diary.
