Woolrich Women's Travel Vest Review

Woolrich Women's Travel Vest

The Bottom Line

Designers of women's travel clothing don't always seem to get it: women want flattering function. Somebody got it with the Woolrich women's travel vest. It fits, it works -- it's the real deal in many ways. You may not know it, but you need this vest; try it once and you won't know how you traveled without it.

Pros

  • Lightweight workhorse (6.25 ounces)
  • Plenty o' pockets

Cons

  • Sizes M-L only

Description

  • Double fabric layer on shoulders and back yoke.
  • Two front flap pockets with velcro closures (great for guidebook and journal).
  • Zippered chest pocket (love this for a camera USB cord).
  • Hook-and-loop chest pocket (perfect pen place).
  • Two front hand-warmer pockets.
  • Interior mesh pocket (cell phone and camera catcher).
  • Interior zippered pocket (wallet hideout).
  • Interior sunglass pocket (tad narrow for easy accessibilty, but good post-sundown stash spot).
  • 100% silky Island cotton; machine washable.

Guide Review - Woolrich Women's Travel Vest

Most women's travel vests fall into one of two categories: function-less or bulky fly fishing affairs. Woolrich's women's travel vest is a sweet exception.

At 22", it's about waist length and could pass for a regular vest -- closer inspection reveals a host of travel specific goodies. I tried to overstuff the vest, of course, as is my wont (not as part of any sophisticated clothing evaluation -- simply lazy stuffing tactics) -- even I was challenged by the seven pocket possibilities.

The thin extra layer of cloth over the shoulders didn't cushion my pack strap at all, but a moderately heavy purse burden would be eased. The full mesh interior keeps you surprisingly cool, though an open back yoke would be a nice air conditioning bonus. With the vest zipped and my hands in some of the pockets, I got some real warmth out of it on nippy nights. All told, you'll be a well-equipped, comfy traveler in this vest.

Scottevest and others might be better for guys..., Member TravelingGirl01

I love the woolrich vest for when I travel, and I agree with your review--it is stylish and practical. I also like that I can wear it with anything and look a little dressier. There are other vests that look good too. I think Scottevest and Magellan both have good vests. I've read some best travel vest reviews on these vest, and they look nice. There are choices there for guys that make sense. I do recommend the woolrich vest. I also would like to look at the Scottevest, since it has so many more pockets. Either way, I like a travel vest to keep my life organized on a trip. Thanks.
