Question: Does the Austin Airport Have a Scanner?
Answer: Yesiree, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has scanners, those pesky xray machine things. Arrive at the Austin airport early, so you'll be in plenty of time to wait should you choose a patdown over the AIT scanner: though the TSA says it isn't so, waiting for a patdown at airport security is always, for us, a long wait. And the Austin airport isn't very big: the chances of the airport having the metal detector line and the scanner lines open at the same time is sometimes slim.

The good news here: you've just been in Austin.... and if you're googling this up, you may be on your way there. Austin's an excellently exciting Southern city with sights and sounds you should be sussing: the music scene alone warrants a week in this Texas town. A few things to see and do if you're on the way to this star of the Lone Star state:
