My Review 

In the end, I liked the movie, but I had preconceived expectations. Because I liked the book so much, I wanted to love the movie, but it might have been unfair for me to think that a two hour movie could cover all the emotions and discoveries that Liz got to go through in the book. On the other hand, a better director might have been able to portray that. For instance,, a shot of Liz looking scared in an airport would have helped me get into the story, but I am also wondering if I imagined that the real Elizabeth Gilbert was ever intimidated by the journey at all or if I read that into the book. I too saw it with girlfriends, and it was a fun night out. We had all read the book though, and we all expected Richard from Texas to be a lot more solid instead of sort of jumpy. Oh, my favorite Eat Pray Love quotes: "You gotta stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone oughtta be" Richard from Texas! And "Your problem is you don't know what the word means. People think a soul mate is our perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life" Richard from texas again. And lastly, what was up with Richard from Texas telling that story about almost running over a child? I forgot to ask my girlfriends, but I don't remember that part at all in the book.
