From the article: Travel Myth - Hostels Will Have Bed Bugs
Nobody wants to see bedbugs in a hostel or hotel -- and chances of seeing them in a hostel are actually less likely than seeing them in a hotel. If you've seen bedbugs in a hostel or hotel, though, tell us about it: where were they (like in bed)? Did you tell management and if so, what happened? Discretion, please, on establishment names... if the problem's been rectified, don't want to malign a good place. Oh, and no need to log in or register. Tell Us About It...
got bitten
- got bitten multiple times and caught one. took it to management who offered me a refund to move hostels or change rooms. chose to stay in a different room far away from the infected one (you try finding somewhere to stay in London late on a Saturday afternoon!) All was well with me after that. However I found out two days later they still allowed people in the infected room on that night because they were full. They did close the room down the following night though. But I have stayed in many different hotels and hostels over the years and this is the first time I have encountered them in either.

Never
- I've stayed in lots of hostels and never seen a bedbug in a hostel. I think you're right that theyre more likely to be in hotels because hostels work so hard to keep bedbugs out.
