From the article: Pickpocketing Places Survey
You hope it doesn't happen to you -- getting pickpocketed while traveling is a gigantic drag, the magnitude of the dragness depending on how much was pickpocketed. You take precautions so it doesn't happen, which can be anywhere; travelers, though, do like to be prepared, and that means paying special attention in those places where you're most likely to encounter pickpockets. So, where are those most likely places for travelers to get pickpocketed? Read some other opinions, and add yours below! No need to register -- just start typing. Where're the Pickpockets?

Matro Trains: Barcelona, Spain

Metro trains along Las Ramblas (Passeig de Gracia, Catalunya, Urquinaona). Don't take any unnecessary cash, documents and credit cards with you, when going to ride the metro along Las Ramblas. If you take anything of that with you keep it in a money belt. Beware of anybody trying to block your way to the train, especially when there is plenty of room inside. Most probably it is a pickpocket's accomplice, trying to draw your attention.

Florence and Rome

Outside the Accademia in Florence and inside Rome's Termini Station, be on your guard. Keep your cash and plastic tucked safely into a money belt or waist pouch. (And leave your plaid and checked shirts at home...dead giveaway.) I hear that Notre-Dame de Paris is another pickpocket haven, but I've never seen thieves at work there.
